Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, like counselling, enables you to explore issues which are troubling you such as:

  • anxiety
  • bullying/harassment
  • depression
  • loss and bereavement
  • low self esteem
  • work related difficulties
  • relationship difficulties
  • survival of abuse

The therapist provides a confidential, supportive, non- judgemental relationship within which you are able to express your feelings; increase your self awareness; deepen your understanding of your issues, and discover your needs so you can make choices about how you manage difficulties and live your life.  As well as working with your present issues the therapist will also work with you to explore those from your past.

Psychotherapy is usually weekly and long term (a few years), although many psychotherapists also offer short/long term counselling (a few weeks to a couple of years) .  Sessions last 50 minutes and take place in a private room with you and the therapist sitting opposite each other.
